Re: Craft night!
Mon, April 7, 2008 - 12:45 PMI may be free....I have to drop my car Friday night for service. So if I can manage to wrangle my husband's car...
What will you be crafting? I'm thinking I need something shiny for summerfair. -

Re: Craft night!
Mon, April 7, 2008 - 1:18 PMI need to
1) finish crocheting a scarf (not belly dance related, but still it's crafty!)
2) shit or get off the pot in terms of this cheapo little bra I'm decorating
3) finish a pair of harem pants I started over a month ago (probably better done at home)
4) sew sequins onto my thong for the burlesque show
5) come up with a cool way to use this white tiger fur fabric for a belt
6) decorate more headbands because it's easy and fun
Lots to do...where are we doing this?
I could be persuaded to clean up my apartment and have you all over. But it means you'd have to drive and park in the ghetto...Let me know what you think.

Re: Craft night!
Mon, April 7, 2008 - 2:04 PMI have at least four or five projects in various stages of completion but most importantly I need to make five pairs of bedazzled white feather pasties.
And folks are welcome to come over here but there will be two small dogs all up in your mix. I'm downtown- is that convenient for anyone other then me and Robyn? -

Re: Craft night!
Tue, April 8, 2008 - 6:50 AMMy house is totally an option.....plus then I don't have to get my husband to watch the kids, we just send them upstairs. I have no idea what I am going to work on, but I do have a few wannabe little projects. I have lots of open space. I have a big table adjacent to a big open space of hardwood floor. There is also plenty of room downstairs, and I have my sewing machine and ironing board permanently set up in my laundry room if anyone would want to use them. I am on the westside though which might be a ways away for some, but I know is really only a ten minute ride down Glenway from Mellie's. I am totally in need of motivation to make more things. -

Re: Craft night!
Tue, April 8, 2008 - 9:46 AMooh ooh, I second!
Rachel, finalize the details and I think we're all set!
Also, if it's closer for anyone to meet downtown and then carpool to the west side, you can totally come by my place. Or Mel's I'm sure. Mel, you wanna go together? -
-
Re: Craft night!
Tue, April 8, 2008 - 10:23 AMdude, you're sewing harem pants?
problem: I bought a belly dance pattern, fabric, elastic and BEGGED my mom LAST SEPTEMBER to "PLEASE SEW MAH PANTS!"
Alas, it is April and no pants. Anyone interested in sewing two pair for me?
I will pay. :)
Still checking on the car situation... -

Re: Craft night!
Tue, April 8, 2008 - 10:45 AMI've only done 2 pairs before. One ended up being gifted to my neice...so yeah. That's my skill level. The others are kinda ghetto as hell on the inside. It's not hard to do, but my spatial skills suck and I love to start things and then never finish them. Show me your pattern and we will discuss. :oP -

Re: Craft night!
Tue, April 8, 2008 - 1:15 PMooh! Just had a thought: I can always add more to the Tiny Hat.
If you're in the mood for a quickie project, the tiny hats don't take long. Just buy one from Michael's and round up all your sequins, ribbons, brooches and jewelry, feathers, nets, etc. and glue or stitch them on. I need to add more to mine... -

Re: Craft night!
Wed, April 9, 2008 - 6:13 AMCan you PM me with the address? Chris has offered to drop me off and he can go see a movie or something and pick me up after...
I have nothing I'm working on now but am wondering... We were talking harem pants last night, do you typically wear shorter belts and stuff to not smoosh the billowy goodness of the pant? -
-
Re: Craft night!
Wed, April 9, 2008 - 7:57 AMOkay - I sent my address to Mellie and Amanda. Around 7 sounds perfect. I will probably try to have some snacky food around, but if anyone thinks they will be hungry, they can feel free to contribute. We don't keep alcohol in the house, but we are certainly not opposed. BYOB. Looking forward to seeing everyone Friday!!! -

Re: Craft night!
Sun, April 13, 2008 - 8:46 AM(sad face) :(
looks like you had a productive, fun time!
did you need to surge the skirt or were you able to sew it regularly? -

Re: Craft night!
Sun, April 13, 2008 - 11:10 AMHey Amanda!
I did the skirt just like Mel told me. It's a simple thing - no finishing around the waist or hemming the bottom - just a little bit of regular sewing down each side. I'm sure if one had a surger, you could make a more refined model, but mine is just great for me - quick and easy and looks great.
