If you could take any classes, or if your regular classes could have a focus, what would it be?
I want to learn more poi tricks...or learn how to properly do the ones I 'know.'
I really want to take some kind of classical Indian dance.
I love dancing dunyavi with big skirts...so excited that a new piece is on the horizon for AG!
Completely bummed that we're not going to Spirit this year since it means I'll be missing a floorwork workshop with Troupe Binti. I'm feeling a real figure 8 layback repeat rut in floorwork lately. And Troupe Binti is totally bitchin.

Re: What do you want to learn?
Thu, April 10, 2008 - 8:27 AMGood one, Robyn. Now you got me thinking. Poi is definitely on my list. I suck, but my husband is really good. I think I would just need to practice some if I was serious. Regular focus?? Dancing with finger cymbals. I could use and would so love a 'so you want to be a performing dancer' class.

Re: What do you want to learn?
Thu, April 10, 2008 - 10:23 AMI would love to learn some awesome skirt work, and really work a 9\8 rhythm. Learn how to use zills.
I can either zill or move my hips , but not both. -

Re: What do you want to learn?
Thu, April 10, 2008 - 10:38 AMTotally agree, Kim. A 9/8 comes on and I turn into an idiot. If it's a fast kash then I just revert to the one choreo I know. There must be more to do, right?!

Re: What do you want to learn?
Sat, April 12, 2008 - 7:01 PMI list, I list:
-Pop&Lock - I like the sharp movements because they can be so expressive and versatile.
-Odissi (an Indian Dance Style)- The hand movements and gestures add another level to dance. I'd like to learn the meaning behind them so I could use them appropriately. I think Odissi is something you see used a lot in Bollywood choreographies.
- Voi (Veil Poi)- I like the look but I admittedly don't know enough about it. I just heard about it a week ago and it looks interesting.
- Zils/Swords- I like the sound zils make and I like sharp pointy things. I really can't say I have more solid artistic foundation than those two things.
-Layering and Floorwork- I'm a beginner so maybe these things come in time but I have a terrible concept of these things.
I wish I could go to Spirit this year Ariellah and Zoe Jakes are going to be there. *Sadface!!!* But I don't get vacation time and that sucks.
