I am considering buying a new belly dance DVD but have learned from past experience that they're not all that great...

I most recently Netflixed (yes, i can be a verb) ;) a Suhaila DVD and it was awful. I was looking around Amazon at the Rachel Brice arms DVD and also stumbled upon one called, "Pop, Lock and Shimmy" and "Contemporary Bellydance with Ariellah."

Any videos you enjoy?

    Hi Amanda ,
I have both DVD's . I just got Pop , Lock , & Shimmy and I have only reviewed it once. It is long , about 95 minutes so I fast forward thru some parts , but I think it is a good video.

I luv the Ariellah video. She really an excellent instructor , and this is a quality DVD , and well worth the money.

Both video's are excellent. I don't think you will be disappointed.

i also recommend the FatChanceBellyDance DVD series! It teaches the basics and fundementals of American Tribal Style, the choreo combinations, transistions and cues. Even if you are fluent in ATS, its great just to revue :)

I so want the Fat Chance DVDs. It's at the top of my wish list.

I'd be interested in which Suhaila DVD you didn't like. I have most of them, and there are definitely some I like and some I don't. I've spent some time with Suhaila live and in person in the last year, and she is certainly a worthy and inspiring teacher.

It was the lower body video... "Bellydance Fitness Fusion with Suhalia: Buns."

She did like 4 exercises in the whole video, none of which were anything new or particularly exciting. It was a way too long pelvic tuck segment, the sitting straddle and squeezing your cheeks individually, a side lying series similar to Pilates floor work (without the proper cueing) and isolations with hip ups/alt. hips, etc...

I was bored within the first couple of minutes and disappointed there wasn't more to it... Music was okay, production was cheap. I guess I just expected more. Glad I could rent it before buying!

Cool, if you wouldn't mind, I'd love to have a little preview!

Also, thanks for the reminder on the Mini this weekend.
I ran it and finished better than I anticipated! I avg. 9min miles and finished in 1'23!
