I just liked our tribe discussion(s) so much that I decided to start another,so...............

how is your practice these days?
do you practice?
what have you been working on?
what would you like to work on?
what's working for you?
not working?
I am trying to motivate myself to exercise regularly and get my muscles back together. I would like to bellydance more. Yoga is good for my life. What's keeping you motivated? current focus? goals?

    aww Rach.... I'll give ya an answer or two since it seems the Anaya chickens are busy..

    I have not been practicing .. or not really in the traditional sense. I did get inspired the other evening to work out some stuff for a show I am doing in Oct so that is kind of a practice.

    What I did last night tho was to rearrange some of my bedroom so that I could have some dancing space.. I can't use the living room to do it right now (which iof course has my big mirror.. dammit) so I am giving myself room in the bedroom..

    I think that doing that will now inspire to practice more.. now that I have more room!!

      well, I didn't make it to class again last night, so i understand being busy

      hopefully no one's forgotten me.

      next tues looks busy too, but it feels like my baby is getting big fast. once I make it back there will be no stopping me.

      you're awesome Haddie! i always feel like rearranging my furniture has a very positive influence on the rest of my life as well!!!!! love.

        i have not been practicing. my running took over my life...

        we learned a new move called ... shit. all i remember is drop drop drop... um. the chest thingys where we lift and roll down...you do one to the right corner, one to the left corner and chest drop 3 x's while bending your knees and lowering down. then we added a turn. so to turn you lift to the front and then turn to the back left corner and chest lift/roll thingy and then drop drop drop. then left to the wall (facing the parking lot) and then to the back left corner of the room, drop drop drop. then to the back, to the front right corner, drop drop drop, to the side wall (facing the woods) to the front left corner, drop drop drop.

        that was a really sucky way to describe it but hey. :)

          Next Tuesday seems really busy, but week after that Leigh will be six weeks old!!!!!!!! and I vow to never miss class again!!!

            I don't think that move has a name, I think we always just called it the lift, lift, drop-drop-drop. It's a classic ATS move.

            I've been really really bad and not practicing at all. It's so hard after working outside all day, to come back to a crappy hotel and force yourself to practice. But I'm back for a while and will work at getting back into a rhythm. Kudos to all of you that have been busy!

              NEED PRACTICE!!! am complete porker. At least I've taken up running/walking too in an attempt to train for the Run Like Hell 5K that Nick and I are allegedly running with Mel and her hubby and our friend. At least I'm doing something if not dancing.

              ***Put down the cigarettes and get off the couch, candyass! ***

              But yeah, stayed through all of beginner class on Tuesday and wow...it hurt. That kind of serious drilling is good to have back in my life, especially when troupe rehearsal has been so gig focused. I miss drilling the shit out of the basics and just good ole dancing! and am complete oinker.

              Now that I've got a whole house to deal with, there's really no excuse for not buying some mirrors and dancing more often. Some of the beginner girls get together outside of class to practice. What a cool thing!

                    ;) i have a friend who is *VERY* newly pregnant (what gives? seriously). apparently i have been enlisted as her abdominal rehabilitation specialist once baby # 2 arrives. :)

                    robin, you should come out saturday the 6th. my company sponsors a 5K called the Eye Run (www.givethegiftofsight.org)
                    this is my first year running it, but it should be fun and your money goes to Give the Gift of Sight. so that's good.

                    i will definitely see you at run like hell though! i got my brochure in the mail the other day!
                    will you be running in the reggae run as well?

                      Amanda, not sure how many 5Ks I'm going to run. And I'm totally not ready yet...I may not even be ready for Run Like Hell but I'm not going to worry about stopping to walk sometimes. It's just for fun.

                      I don't know how "into" running I want to get...my muscles are already totally tight even though I stretch after each run. My yoga instructor was like "what is going on with you? You're so tight today!" and it's been like that for the last 2 weeks. :o(

                      There's only so much time to devote to physical fitness! I've got to spend time sitting on the couch, having drinks, napping, eating dessert, etc.!

                        hey... Robyn, something I just ran into concerning my uscle tightness/cramping issues. I recently found out I am severly magnesium deficient... that has created all my physical problems..

                        I would definitely get some blood work done to be sure that all your levels are ok...

                        all these years of pain for me and it was something very friggin simple.. can hardly believe it.

                          ohmygosh! At least now you know and you can get on your way to being more content and happy with your exercise. I know that the minute something hurts (not like muscle burn, but you know) I quit and don't do it ever again. I'm so glad you've figured out a source of big problems for you.

                            oh yeah, and I've started setting the dvr to record Namaste Yoga from the fit network, so maybe I'll be more likely to get in some small-scale stretching on my own more often. At least it's a good plan!

                              anything is better than nothing! every little bit you do helps and leads you toward doing more..

                              I actually did Rachel's arms video today and did my own stretching AND I am putting together a practice playlist with music from our usual choreos and music that I like to improv to and I'm just gonna set it on play and run with it...

                              finally I can do this again.. it's been years and my dancing has really suffered for it... back on track now so LOOK OUT! I might actually get to the point where I can keep up with ya'lls aerobic craziness!
