I am starting to become much more serious about this, and trying to discipline myself to practice more at home and I am finding some of these videos helpful.

I have also been attending a class on Monday nights in North College hill. It's called "World Fushion". Much of the class is geared toward "Flamenco", but some "Bellydance" moves are also part of the class. Mainly simple "Shimmies" and some "Figure Eights". The class is also suitable for those with little or no experience. I am not sure how long the class will go on, but hey it is a lot of fun, very helpful, and does not interfere with Katy's class.

  • kudos to practicing. i just watched the video and i would be careful to not mimic this lady too much. you'll notice she isn't controlling what's going on up top, where as katy really stresses to keep the movement in the hips only. obviously, everyone has their own style, just make sure that you're not picking up bad habits b/c they will be hard to kick when you come to class.

    good luck!

      Thanks!

I have noticed that there are very few videos, which guide you into a perfect posture before actually starting the demonstration. I have tried to get into the habit of puting myself into "bellydance" posture, with knees slightly bent, back flat, and chest up, right before I press play. And you are right, it does get hard to break bad habits. The body tends to be difficult to tain and retrain. Thanks for the avice! See you in class!
